51 Presents SpringFest: Kites, College & Community

51 will host its 33rd Annual SpringFest: Kites, College & Community on Saturday, May 2, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. A free, family-friendly event, SpringFest is one of the most beloved community festivals in the Sullivan Catskills, a day when students, families, children, alumni, and neighbors come together to celebrate the place they share.

This year’s SpringFest features free kites for the first 300 children, free inflatable bouncy houses, farm animals, food and beverage vendors, a student art show, and a full college open house for anyone curious to learn more about all of the educational, scholarship, and workforce opportunities that SUNY Sullivan has to offer. In addition, visitors can explore dozens of food and craft vendors, as well as learn more about several local and regional nonprofit and community organizations. The event takes place rain or shine.

51’s Admissions Open House will provide prospective students with an opportunity to explore the college. The event will include a presentation on SUNY Sullivan’s Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), campus tours, and staff from admissions and financial aid available to answer questions. In addition, prospective students can learn about the Sullivan Promise Scholarship, which offers free tuition and fees for one year to eligible Sullivan County residents who earn a high school diploma or GED from 2022 through 2026. Students can complete a free application on site, and those who bring a transcript can apply for instant acceptance.

“SpringFest is one of my favorite days of the year, and not just because of the kites,” said SUNY Sullivan President David Potash. “It is a day when this campus truly belongs to everyone. Families, students, neighbors, and alumni , all of us together in one place, celebrating what makes Sullivan County and SUNY Sullivan so special. We hope to see you on May 2.”

SpringFest is co-sponsored by . All proceeds from the event will benefit the SUNY Sullivan Foundation, which plays a critical role in sustaining our ability to make SUNY Sullivan accessible and affordable for all.
